When It Rains It Pours
I got caught in the rain a couple of weeks ago. I felt a few drops touch the top of my head, roll down my forehead and then hit my jacket. The drizzle quickly turned into a full rain fall and as I quickly walked down 34th Street, I thought of the saying "When it rains, it pours".
I'm sure you have heard that saying before...When it rains it pours. That saying is quoted when a sequence of bad things happen all at the same time. For example, you lose your job, then you find out that your spouse is being unfaithful, and a loved one dies all within the same timeframe, you might say, "When it rains it pours." One negative thing happening seems to open the flood gates so that multiple bad things can happen.
I thought about the phrase, "When it rains, it pours" and wondered why it had to be associated with negativity. Why when a stream of positive things happen do we not use that phrase? For example, your child just graduated from college, you got promoted at work and you just found new love. God is clearly blessing you. He is allowing an overflow of blessings to pour down on you. So then why can't you say, "When it rains it pours"? The rain causes things to grow. Isn't it true that just one blessing from God can change the direction of your life forever?
As we grow we need to not only change the way we look at things but also the language that we use...the words that we speak. If we would just give positivity the same power that we seem to give negativity, we would be much happier and more productive. It is our stinking thinking that has us so miserable and stuck. Our perception…the way we look at things…is affecting the words that we speak. Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
This year I am expecting a rain fall of blessings, anointing, power, deliverance, wealth. What about you? I am expecting it to rain and pour!
