THE HIGHS AND THE LOWS
Hello Family,
A couple of months ago I went on a mini vacation where I had the opportunity to play golf for the very first time. I know you are probably wondering...Where has this girl been all of her life that she hasn't played golf before? LOL.
Now, I believe, that the idea of the game is to get the ball into the hole with as few attempts as possible. This sounds easy, but it can be quite challenging.
I confidently started the game, thinking "You can do this Lisa." At the start of the game I made some lucky swings and immediately started talking trash. I thought "Wow this is so easy!" However as the game progressed, the course became more difficult and on top of that the blowing wind added another dimension to what was becoming a difficult game for me. Wait a minute! I was told that this was a relaxing game. So then why wasn't I feeling relaxed?
It turns out, I was playing with experienced players...I was the novice. So while I was swinging wildly, they were strategically setting up their swings. I was swinging with force to combat the blowing wind, while they were using the wind as an ally to guide their ball into the hole. I was feeling betrayed by that little white ball that just wouldn't do what I wanted it to. SMH.
I learned so many life lessons while playing that simple game of golf. One being, that I should refrain from bragging and talking trash until I have at least won the game. LOL. But on a more serious note, I learned that things have a way of going from good to bad rather quickly.
One minute we are on the mountain top and the next minute, we are in the valley. We all know what to do when we are on the mountain top...when things are going our way...when we are happy. However, very few of us know what to do when we are confronted with our valley experiences.
In your valley experiences, I suggest that you don't swing wildly like I did while playing golf. Be more strategic!
1.) Pray, fast and seek the face of God while in the valley.
2.) Ignore the enemy who is constantly whispering negativity in your ear.
3.) Feast on the word of God! Feed on scriptures like "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God..." (Romans 8:28); "...Weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning." (Psalm 30:5); and "...Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world." (I John 4:4).
I'm praying for you. See you on the mountain top!
