The Potter's Wheel

Hello Family,

How many times have you prayed and said, "Lord, you are the potter and I am the clay. Make me and mold me into what you would have me to be?" I've prayed this prayer before and to honest I had no idea what I was really asking God to do. Smh. I knew that I wanted to be better and do better. I knew that I wanted to make God proud of me. But I had no idea how painful the process would be. Lord Jesus, I did not have a clue!!

Being on the potter's wheel is no joke. It feels like a blessing and a curse at the same time. A blessing because God chose me to work on but also a curse because the process of becoming someone new, someone whole is not an easy one. Ouccchhhhhh!!!!

Some of the most beautiful pieces were created on the potter's wheel. I had the opportunity to watch the process that the potter using when taking a lump of clay and turning it into something beautiful and absolutely breath taking.

I watched as the potter places the clay on the wheel and as the wheel spins the potter stretches and pulls on the clay. The hands of the potter pulls the clay up, then pushes it back down. His/her hands move inside and outside of the clay helping to form it into the image that he/she has already created in their mind. The potter skillful cuts off pieces of the clay to fit their intended design. The clay is going through this great transition all while spinning on the wheel.

While watching the potter I noticed that although he/she is pulling and stretching on the clay, the potter is making sure that the clay is not falling apart or crumbling. The potter is protecting the clay in the midst of the transition.

This brings me to my reason for writing this. I want to encourage you. I want you to know that while you are on this road to becoming better, while you are on the potter's wheel, God is protecting you. The wheel is spinning and you may at times feel a little dizzy and not sure what is happening but relax, God's got you. God is allowing circumstances and situations to pull at you, stretch you and move you out of your comfort zone but that's okay. You may not see Him, hear Him or feel Him, but know that God is right there with you. Be assured that when this process is over and the wheel finally stops spinning, you will be somebody new...you will be better. You'll have more love, more joy and more peace. You will be quick to hear and slow to anger. You will have a clearer definition of God's purpose for your life.

Keep your head up...it's almost over!!!

"But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand." Isaiah 64:8
